Every one wants to grow up, I never understood this. I've never wanted to grow up and now that college is getting near, my fear of growing up is becoming stronger. I don't mind being away from my family and being by myself, but who's going to take care of me financially. I'll have to get a job which I don't mind that much, but will it be enough to support me. Times are hard. Jobs are not easy to find. I probably won't be able to find a job I like and have to settle.
Growing up is stressful. It's too much to think about at times. Most kids want to be independent and independence is fine but to a certain extent. At the end of the day you can end up alone. I don want to be alone.
Don't get me wrong growing up has its perks. Not having to answer to anyone is one of them. You can come home at what ever time you want, do whatever you want and say what ever you want. You don't have to worry about upsetting anyone but maybe your neighbors. A down side to growing up is also that you have no one who cares what you do or say. For some things I like guidance.
At the end of the day, we have no choice but to grow up. Some of us grow up faster than others, but we all have to do it someday. It really all depends on the adult you grow up to be.
Nice post, I can completely relate to this. Could have been longer with more details but in general, the ideas it has is good.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way! I think it's because we're afraid of responsibilities. Even though I'm 17, I still feel 13 and I am afraid of losing "being fun". :/
ReplyDeleteI can really relate to your post, I also hate the idea of growing up because all I want to do is be a kid and have fun; but as you said I guess I have no choice but to grow up. I really enjoyed your post, I think you did a good job.

ReplyDeletePart of me wants to grow up but part of me doesn't. I feel like I can definitely be independent and be on my own and I want to have to opportunity to try that out. But I don't want to be burdened with responsibilities. I want to still have the choice to be goofy and silly and careless every now and then.
ReplyDeleteYou raise some great and interesting ideas in your post. I understand your concern about the future. No matter how old you are, the future can be a scary thing. High school can be a great experience, but don't forget about all the great things you have to look forward too. You will have the opportunity to meet new people, become stronger emotionally and financially. Most adults will say that college was a better experience than high school. Remember, so long as you don't have kids, the only person you need to be responsible for is you.
