My mom (fb)

My mom is one of the reasons i want to go to college.  When my mother went to college she went alone and that made a positive impact in her life. Since she didn't go to college with friends, she focused more on her work. Not that she didn't make any friend, but she did not have much of a distraction. She majored in mental health so she could become a social worker but I've time she divided that that wasn't the right path for her. The good part is that if she ever wanted a career in the mental health field, she has her degree.  One of my mothers biggest struggle with college was the commute. She had to take the train two hours going to school and two hours coming back home. I've learned that my mother is a very strong women, because while she was going to college she also had a baby at home. She could have quit but she kept on going

At first I was a little scared for college but I decided that i am excited for college. I'm  also more aware of the steps I need to take to be more successful in college. I also learned that I need to think more about where I want to be in the future and what I want to do with my life. I'm sure I'll figure It out.

FIT (PB)

As a teenager who was born and raised in New York City, Iloved going down town to shop. Seeing all of the flashy clothes and all of the different lights gave me a certain thrill, especially around the holidays when 5th avenue comes alive. Fashion has always come naturally to me even as a child. My mom would ask me to look at her clothes before she left to make sure she looked good and my big sister, still to this day, tries to take my clothes from me. She needs to get her own. I’ve also been sketching outfits for some time now and I think with the help I receive from FIT I will be able to develop a portfolio.
My life wouldn’t be complete without fashion, and majoring in fashion merchandising management would help me follow my passion. With this degree I can pursue a career as a fashion designer, which is one of my dreams, but if that doesn’t work out I can become a fashion buyer, editor or consultant. This major opens up many possibilities. The fashion industry is a tough industry to get into and going to FIT and earning my degree in this field will give me a chance in this hard world.

My sister(FC)

When my little sister, Kaylyn, and I were growing up she would always fault me for her mistakes. If she did something wrong she would always say “well Mecca did it too". As we got older, I didn't want this to be the case. I didn't want her making the same mistakes I did. I wanted to be someone she could look up to. Doing better in school and being a better person would be a good start. So I figured that it would be easier working on mefirst as a person and that took longer than I thought it would. By the ninth grade, I found out that I was actually good at drawing and that I would do what it takes to be the fashion designer I was born to be. Just as I was finally getting myself together, the worse happened. My parents were getting a divorce. They said it was a separation but I knew what that really meant and I was far from happy.

One day I will become that fashion designer that I would give everything to become. With the knowledge I get from college, I will be able to make something of myself and not struggle to live with a job that has nothing to do with my passion and pays minimum wage. I will be happy because I didn’t let anything stop me. That will also be the day I will truly express to my little sister how great of an impact her existence has had on my life.

Christmas time (PB)

I love Christmas time. I love the smells.  The colors. The clothes. Everything's just perfect. It also help that my birthday is five days before Christmas.

What I love most is the fashion. I love winter coats. When it's cold outside you can wear so many cute clothes and you don't have to worry about getting too hot. And don't get me started on the accessories. I also love winter boots too. They go great with any outfit. From UGGS to combat boot, they're all so fashionable.

This thought really kicked in after today when I went down town to go see the tree light up at Rockefeller center. I had such a good time even though downtown was so crowded with New Yorkers and tourist. I loved seeing all the lights and decorations on the different building. I also went to Brayant park and looked at the people Ice skating(another thing I enjoy). It was too funny watching them fall down then pick themselves up knocking other people down.

Ice skating might be fun, but I was paying more attention to the music playing in the background. Christmas music is the best. Cold outside is one of my favorite Christmas songs. And I love the Christmas specials that are always playin on tv. So far the lady gaga and muppet special was the best. In my opinion, the nightmare before Christmas is the best Christmas movie ever. You can watch it for halloween and Christmas. It's like a win win.

Not that I have a problem with any other season but in my opinion winter/Christmas time is the most fun. And Im actually looking forward to my birthday in two weeks. I can't wait
